My three-year company internship was the highlight of my studies. It’s a good way of applying what you learn in school directly in the field, and the practical work helps you understand the theory. In January 2020, I joined the Electrical Department, before moving to Maintenance the following year. My internship was fulfilling: I shadowed electricians and maintenance staff, I worked on the Technical and Food Phosphates (FTP) bagging machine, which was the subject of my dissertation. In September 2022, at the end of my time there, I was offered a job in the Electrical Department to continue my work.
I was familiar with Prayon through my dad, who works as an operator. Even though I didn’t aim to end up in the same company as him, his experience gave me an insight into Prayon and made me want to do my internship there,
for several reasons: the variety of the work, the way the company operates, the family spirit, the friendliness, and its human values.
I would recommend Prayon, no question. I felt really welcomed and involved! I joined the teams right away and worked on important projects, which was very rewarding. I saw how different facilities worked, which gave me an overall
view of how the Engis site operates. At FTP, I focused on a specific system and uncovered a process: an enriching learning experience in the field! I never felt like a student, the others listened to me, I could discuss work with my colleagues and put forward ideas. Moreover, I was sometimes able to operate certain systems alone! It was a great experience, thanks to my colleagues and my intern supervisor!
