In 2019, Prayon joined the Reflow project, a European project under the Horizon 2020 program, that aims to find ways to recover and recycle the phosphorus in the waste generated by the dairy industry.
As part of the project, our R&D Department has welcomed Vishal Zende, an engineer and doctoral student at the University of Limerick. Vishal is working on a raw material in the form of ash from the incineration of the sludge from the dairy industry with a view to reuse this recovered phosphorus to manufacture fertilizer. Vishal is also looking into scaling up the recovery processes developed in the laboratory to a more industrial level and leveraging the Reflow synergy from number of academic and industrial partners from a dozen EU countries.
