Description

Supervises personnel in the safe manufacturing and packaging of defect free products on time to achieve customer satisfaction and continuous improvement of quality, reliability and efficiency.

Packages product by directing workforce; organizing and monitoring workflow; and meeting production schedule

Essential Responsibilities & Functionsinclude the following, others may be assigned.Oversees and manages the Production and/or packaging operations to maximize performance while maintaining adherence to GMP, ESH and quality standards, including
•    Administration of toolbox meetings
•    Improvements in safety performance and housekeeping
•    Providing general and specific work instructions
•    Performance coaching and discipline
•    Completion of timecards
•    Scheduling of personnel
•    Ensuring regulatory, job specific and plant internal training requirements are met
•    Addressing minor process related issues
•    Coordinating Operational and packaging requirements with supply chain organization.  (i.e. Lot IDs and Dry Rework)
•    Interfacing with Shipping, Laboratory and Customer Service on Packing related requirements
•    Maintaining and tracking raw material inventories
•    Maintaining and recording process reliability/AEM data
•    Maintaining process data and changeover checklist sheets
•    Improving work systems to increase consistency and reduce variability of the process and material flow
•    Work with group leads to ensure PWI’s and QWI’s are updated and maintained
•    Ensuring environmental regulatory compliance
•    Creating an environment conducive to operational flexibility, autonomy and efficiency
•    Ensures accurate and timely entry of packing confirmations in SAP
•    Track usage of consumable supplies and ensure they are properly set up and available
•    Interfacing with the Maintenance organization on work within the plant and packaging areas and help prioritize Maintenance scheduling
•    Participate in capital project definition and development related to operational area
•    Reporting and investigation of process incidents to determine root cause and corrective actions
•    Optimize consumption of rework
•    Minimize generation of flush-out, rework and repack
•    Facilitate coordination of production and packaging schedule
•    Represent area at the daily production planning meeting
•    Interact with other area leaders and supervisors on optimal utilization of site resources
•    Interface with Production, Supply Chain, Lab , Purchasing, ESH and Maintenance organizations
•    Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.

Provides input into departmental/divisional objectives/long range plans; provides input into annual work plan/programs, as appropriate; takes initiative to accomplish goals; maintains appropriate skills for the position;
Creates/maintains an environment conducive to good employee/management relations; recognizes the rights/position of other employees; assumes responsibility for addressing problems affecting employee/management relations with immediate supervisor.
Assumes responsibility for personal productivity and quality of work; recognizes/communicates problems and suggests solutions to supervisor.
Compiles data; prepares/submits accurate/timely reports, where appropriate; maintains records and/or carries out directions; follows through and completes assignments in acceptable time frames; applies technical and procedural know how to get the job done in an acceptable manner; adjusts behavior for the effective use of time and resources.
Assumes responsibility for managing personal time/schedules/deadlines; advises supervisor of any conflict which may inhibit departmental obligations; effectively supports co-workers in establishing and achieving objectives while showing courtesy and respect towards others.
Responds to customer’s (internal and/or external) concerns and complaints in a professional/timely manner; refers concerns/complaints to supervisor, when appropriate; Communicates ideas/information for improving production/procedures/cost control; maintains composure at all times.
Interacts with other departments, divisions, and/or other utility agencies; assures information that affects other employees, departments, and/or divisions is communicated to the proper recipients, appropriately.
Trains others in areas of proficiency or expertise.
Maintains professional and/or technical knowledge by actively participating in training and assignments, reviewing materials or publications, and participating in professional organizations as appropriate.
Understands and follows all organizational policies, procedures and rules, ensuring that all laws are obeyed and equal employment, safety and environmental protection are practiced.
Must be able to work in excess of eight hours per day or forty hours per week on any shift or travel as needed.  
Consistently demonstrates prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
Communicates development and career goals to immediate supervisor and takes ownership of personal development plan.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES & FUNCTIONS
Interviews, selects, hires, promotes, demotes, transfers, and recommends termination of employment to management; reviews the performance of staff to encourage growth and development; provides ongoing feedback with frequent contacts with employees.
Performs timely employee reviews in accordance with Prayon policies/procedures; applies appraisal process accurately and impartially; corrects performance deviations.
Develops and/or assists in the development of annual work plans, programs, staffing requirements, equipment requirements, and related budgets; assists in the development of objectives/long range plans; assures all goals are met. 
Advises/assists the immediate supervisor and appropriate staff in carrying out the functions/responsibilities within the department; delegates authority to appropriate line and staff employees with full recognition that delegation of authority does not relieve overall responsibility. 
Arranges for and/or provides direct relief coverage for Line Supervisors as necessary.
Maintains staff by participating in the recruitment and selection process; orienting and training new employees.
Maintains staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results.

Qualifications

Minimum
•    Education:    High School Diploma or equivalent
•    Experience:    Solid understanding of the manufacturing and/or packaging process through end of line completion

Preferred
•    Education:     Four-year degree in relevant discipline, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred.
•    Experience:      Prior supervisory experience; Experience with automated packaging equipment and process control in a similar manufacturing environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Reading/comprehension, speaking and writing at required education equivalency level.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business correspondence, technical/product information, policies/procedures or government regulations.  Ability to complete written forms and write routine to complex procedures, reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in a group or individual setting.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and other Office 365 applications.
Proficiency in relevant SAP modules preferred

COMPLEXITY
The work includes varied duties requiring many different processes and methods be applied to a broad range of activities and/or substantial depth of analysis within a particular area.  Decisions depend on the analysis of the subject, phase or issues involved and the chosen course of action may be selected from different alternatives.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work requires physical exertion to include sitting; extended periods of walking or standing; recurring bending, crouching, stretching, reaching; traversing stairs, climbing of tall steps, lifting heavy objects up to 55lbs; crouching or crawling in restricted areas. Work routinely requires speaking and hearing (expression or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words and perceiving sounds by ear).

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions such as working around moving parts, carts or machines or with irritant chemicals.  Employee may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves or shields. Environment also requires normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, personal or commercial transportation methods.  Requires use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc.
